The first samples of fabricated bare PCB was just delivered. Along with it I got mezzanine board with already soldered FPGA chip plus all decoupling caps. Initial close look at the boards reveals no flaws, hence I proceed to assembly of first piece. Check out my website VGA51 section for progress and photos.

Pleased to report the ver.1 of the FPGA for #VGA51 has been completed. The one important item that is different from the original spec is the 256-color mode has been added to design, replacing monochrome mode. This was possible due to extension of the video buffer ram to 64000 bytes which allows to display 320x200 pixels with 8-bit color depth. It also enables optional use of external ramDAC to introduce indexed color mode which opens door to ability to display 256 colors from palette of over 16 million.
